Between January and March 2021, our Back to Work project supported the Scottish Government’s efforts to reduce the gender pay gap in Scotland, to empower women’s position in the labour market and deliver fair and inclusive economic growth.
Although this initiative focused on supporting minority ethnic women to return to the workforce after a career break, it also recognised the need for employer learning. 7 growing private sector businesses, as well as other third and public sector organisations, joined the project to examine their recruitment practices to better attract and retain a more diverse workforce.
Through virtual workshops, one-to-one support and remote work placements with participating employers, AAI was able to directly support 31 women, from all walks of life, to realise their potential, regain their confidence and break the stigma of a career break.
