Domestic violence reforms in ACT set to ensure more suitable sentences for perpetrators | ABC News

New domestic violence laws could require magistrates to consider whether an offence occurred at a home, if a child was present and if the offender has any previous family violence convictions when sentencing an offender.

Attorney-General Shane Rattenbury says the reforms would ensure perpetrators are given appropriately harsh sentences.

The legislation will come before the ACT Legislative Assembly today where it is expected to pass.
