Raised prices of Pfizer and Moderna could affect S. Korea's vaccine supply deals next year

Price hikes by Pfizer and Moderna for their COVID-19 vaccines will affect the supply deals that South Korea will be making for next year...
That's according to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency on Monday... which seeks to procure more doses for 2022.
Meanwhile, a study from the UK shows that vaccination campaigns will go on for years with booster shots likely... as their effectiveness will decline as time passes.
Jang Tae-hyun reports.
In South Korea, over 96 percent of those who tested positive with COVID-19 in May and June... were unvaccinated.
The country is in the process of administering vaccines... but the deals to buy more doses next year could be affected... as drugmakers Pfizer and Moderna have decided to raise their prices.
Although, this will not affect the price of this year's supply.
According to the UK's Financial Times,... both Pfizer and Moderna have upped the prices 25 and 13 percent respectively of their mRNA coronavirus vaccines in the latest supply contracts submitted to the European Union.
In the meantime, scientists from the UK have advised that the vaccines' protection rate is likely to decline... and that the vaccination campaign will continue for years.
The document submitted to British government's advisory group adds that at the moment, they don't know when would be the right time for re-vaccination.
Israel on Sunday began giving a third shot of the Pfizer vaccine to people over 60... to curb the spread of the Delta variant.
Israel is the first country to offer a booster shot... and comes following a rise in the cases in the past month, despite over half of the population being fully vaccinated.

"We're adding the third vaccination due to the decline in the level of vaccination we've seen with 60-year-olds and above."

And other countries... like... the UK are planning on giving booster shots to the over-50s.
The U.S. is also considering a third shot.
