Earlier this month, Police Minister Bheki Cele released South Africa crime stats for the second quarter of 2021, which indicated an upward trajectory. This compelled media personality and winner of the 2019 installment of Survivor South Africa, Rob Bentele, to create an automated algorithm mobile app designed to provide users with personal safety and security services in the palm of their hands. The App, Eyerus enables you to indicate how safe or unsafe you feel in your current surroundings through the use of four safety status modes. All activity captured on the App is instantly stored on a secure cloud as well as live-streamed to your guardians in real-time. Using features like the check-in system, Eyerus will automatically detect if you’ve been drugged, unconscious, or incapacitated. His Majesty the King Misuzulu ka Zwelithini has endorsed the App, saying it would be a stepping stone in dealing with the scourge of GBV.
