Modcast Fixes the Texas Longhorns football program: Are UT's issues about a lack of talent?

Anwar Richardson, Texas Longhorns beat reporter for Orangebloods.com along with Jason Suchomel and Alex Dunlap of Orangebloods.com discuss the root cause of the issues surrounding Texas football in 2021.

What has gone wrong for the Texas Longhorns in 2021?

One of the issues Jason Suchomel brought up is the continued internal struggle of this program being "I think there's something wrong fundamentally in this Texas program." Suchomel says they seem to crumble under adversity: "They don't have the junkyard dog mentality to fight back when they face adversity."

This week, the Texas Longhorns administration seemed to point the finger directly at the players and a "lack of talent," due to the rate of players lost from the 2018 and 2019 classes, which were both top 5 recruiting classes under Tom Herman at the University of Texas.

Alex Dunlap wonders what would have happened to the Texas football team in 2021 if they had knocked off Oklahoma in Red River Rivalry game. The Texas Longhorns football team was 4-1 with a big lead on Oklahoma before they gave up a big 4th quarter lead to the Sooners, and have subsequently lost 5 games now for the first time since 1956. Beyond the fate of Texas football in 2021 after the Oklahoma game, Alex brought up the continued issues along the offensive line and the inabilities of the Texas Longhorns defense.
