Political consultant Jim Middleton says he would prefer for Greater Sydney to be “locked out in a ring of steel” similar to Victoria last year which worked for them in order to control the Delta spread.
“In New South Wales, I would suggest for Greater Sydney to be locked out in a ring of steel, the ring of steel worked in Melbourne last year, it was not about locking people out of Melbourne," he told Sky News Australia.
“It was about protecting the rest of Victoria and indeed the rest of the country from the infection."
“I suspect that would make a considerable difference particularly now that things are clearly on the way to being out of control."
Mr Middleton said there was a question as to whether New South Wales Premier Gladys Berejiklian was in “full control of her cabinet” as she should be pushing to enforce stricter restrictions like Victoria with outdoor facemask wearing and a curfew to limit movement in the community.
