Victoria B.C.: Further mods for my excellent Mamod Brunel! Canopy, lagging, etc. (see description)

My live steam Mamod Brunel is really coming along. Here it is set for 32 mm gauge track. Many people call this SM32. I really love this engine. Mamod makes a nice full canopy and boiler cladding and these things will improve the look of the engine, so if you are not a tinkerer I’d encourage you to get these items if you are thinking of having a Brunel.

In this video I show my new partial canopy. I purchased a box of 1000 coffee stir sticks years ago and have used that wood for many projects. Here I used them along with popsicle sticks, some odds and sods of scrap wood and sandpaper to make the canopy. I also decked the footplate of my driver area and lagged the steam pipe and safety valve siphon pipe.

Note, unlike the boiler cladding, which I have left in bare wood, I gave the footplate wood and canopy wood (and underside of the sandpaper) a good covering of clear outdoor protective varnish to protect against condensed steam, oil splatter and rain.

As usuall my Cobi Great War Mark I British Tank and French FT-17 tank make appearances.

Happy steaming!
Terry
